Career Profiles
Project Management
The programme manager takes overall responsibility of the relevant programme (e.g. The Cape Clothing & Textile Cluster). This position requires expertise in facilitating industry initiatives and providing guidance to your team in the successful running of the programme. As a programme manager you will need to mentor and guide your team to ensure their individual development and growth and the cohesiveness of the team as a whole. Other responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with industry and other stakeholders in the programme, management of the programme budget and strategic thinking to further develop and enhance the programme. A programme manager needs to have strong leadership and management skills.
Benchmarking & Facilitation
An industrial development facilitator (IDF) is responsible for the successful execution of a programme business plan (eg. The Durban Automotive Cluster). This includes benchmarking, analysis, report writing, presentation and facilitation of cluster workshops and events. Due to the unique nature of the position, there are four tiers to the IDF position to enable employees to build their knowledge and skills sets. These tiers are:
- Trainee IDF - a recent graduate with no work experience
- Junior IDF - a graduate with some relevant work experience but not at a level of independent benchmarking and facilitation
- IDF - Related work experience and can independently conduct benchmarks, presentations and lead certain aspects of projects within a programme
- Senior IDF - Extensive related experience with ability to run entire programmes independently
An Industrial Development Facilitator needs to be proactive, enthusiastic, well spoken and well organised.
Project Administration
A project administrator is the central point for the programme. The project administrator provides support to the Programme Manager and the Industrial Development Facilitators in the successful execution of the relevant business plan. The project administrator is responsible for arranging workshops and training sessions including sending invitations, booking venues, arranging catering and so on. In addition to this, the project administrator minutes the various meetings and acts as liaison with industry representatives. The project administrator needs to be punctual, have strong organisational and multi-tasking skills, excellent written and verbal skills and good interpersonal skills.
Data Administration
The data collected from both national and international firms form a core part of our service to industries. The data administrators are responsible for the capturing, maintaining and manipulation of the data in order for B&M Analysts to continue to provide informative and relevant feedback to the various industries. Data administrators need to pay close attention to detail, have statistical understanding and advanced computer skills.
